Arete Archery Heads to NASP Nationals
At the end of this week Arete Archery will make what has become an annual trek to Sandy, Utah and the Mountain America Center to compete in the 2025 NASP US Western Nationals. Our Elementary (4-5), middle school (6-8), and High School (9-12) Chargers will shoot Friday and Saturday, individually and collectively trying to earn a trip to NASP World Championships this summer in Myrtle Beach, SC. Arete Athletics, in partnership with our Athletic Training partner, OrthoArizona, will host sports physicals on 5/10 from 8-Noon. This physical will take care of your requirement to participate in '25-26 Arete Prep sports. Take care of it now and be ready to compete in August! More About Arete Athletics Summer Camps 2025Varsity Track and Field Continues to Shatter PR's and School Records
Our Varsity Track and Field team is off to a great start in the spring 2025 AIA season. A season, where our boy's team is defending their 2024 D5 AIA State Championship. The team competed in the legendary Nike Rotary Meet at Chandler HS over the weekend, against some of the top competition in the Southwest. Senior Max Bruns broke the Arete Prep 1600m record, crossing the finish line is 4:26.13. He broke the 4:27 mark of Adam Whitehead which has stood since 2019. Max's time was good enough for a 4th place medal in the seeded division. John Bruns (soph) also PR'd in the 1600m with a 4:29 at the Rotary. The Chargers also ran at a 5-way qualifier at Mesa Mountain View last week, against some big school competition. Congratulations to Arete Archery who after a successful state tournament, have once again qualified teams and individuals for the NASP (National Archery in the School Program) Western Regionals. Regionals will be held in Sandy Utah the weekend of 4/25-4/26. Arete Prep Varsity Soccer teams continued their historic seasons by advancing in the AIA 2A State Tournament, both winning first round matchups in dominant fashion the last two nights here at Charger Field.The boys exploded out of the gate, scoring just 30 seconds into the match, and never looked back in a 4–1 win over Veritas Prep. Blade Hingson opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Owen Whitehead. Owen then netted a wondergoal early in the second half to take the lead, and senior Kesed Vaughn put the game away by scoring the third and fourth goals, sending the Chargers to the quarterfinals. Arete Archery Hosts 6th Annual Tournament
Arete Archery hosted our 6th Annual NASP Tournament over the weekend. The tournament serves as a state qualifier for 34 NASP teams from all over the state of Arizona, and was hosted at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. 791 scorecards were entered, in both Bullseye and 3D competition. Archers from grades 4-12 compete in elementary, middle school, and high school divisions. Congratulations to Archers Desi Galanos (1) and Evelyn Hendricks (3) on their “50's,” a perfect round of 5 arrows scoring 10 points per arrow. For the first time in school history, Arete Prep Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer will host AIA State Tournament soccer games this week. The region champion (8-2-1) boys enter the 2A tournament as the #5 seed. They will host #12 Veritas Prep on Tuesday 2/11 at 6pm at Charger Field. The girls (8-3-1) enter as the #8 seed and will host #9 Tempe Prep on Wednesday 2/12 at 6pm. There is an AIA admission fee for state tourney games. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
