Our Varsity Track and Field team is off to a great start in the spring 2025 AIA season. A season, where our boy's team is defending their 2024 D5 AIA State Championship. 

The team competed in the legendary Nike Rotary Meet at Chandler HS over the weekend, against some of the top competition in the Southwest. Senior Max Bruns broke the Arete Prep 1600m record, crossing the finish line is 4:26.13. He broke the 4:27 mark of Adam Whitehead which has stood since 2019. Max's time was good enough for a 4th place medal in the seeded division. John Bruns (soph) also PR'd in the 1600m with a 4:29 at the Rotary. 

The Chargers also ran at a 5-way qualifier at Mesa Mountain View last week, against some big school competition. Two other school records were set, including Izzy Restivo in the Pole Vault (6') and Nhattan Pham in the long jump (20'1.25") Many PR's were set, including:

Issac Walter- Shot and Disc

Ben Bellomy- Discus 

Anthony Ponce 100m and Long Jump

Harrison Kremer- 200m 

Lucas Allgood- 200m

Max Bruns- 400m

John Bruns- 400m 

Liam McGurran 1600m and 3200m 

Aiden Bottolfson- 3200m

Johnny Neal- 110 high hurdles 

Blade Hingson- 110 high hurdles and Javelin 

Alexis Nason- Shotput 

Sylvie Whitehead- Shot, Disc, and Javelin 

Molly McClelland- 200m 

Next up for our HS Chargers is a 5-way qualifier at Red Mountain HS on Wednesday 3/26. Our Middle School track and field team is back in action this week with a Great Hearts Middle School League Meet at Ben Franklin on Wednesday 3/26 with events beginning at 5:30pm.
