Three Arete boys basketball players and two girls athletes were recognized for their outstanding performance during the '23-24 season. 

Senior Ryan Mourad was named 1st team all valley region after scoring 16.7 points per game, and adding 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Ryan eclipsed the prestigious 1,000 point milestone for his career, will finish as Arete's all time leading scorer, and ranks second in the state in 3 point FG's made heading into the boys state play in game on Friday at Hopi HS. 

Sophomore Harrison Kremer was named 2nd team, leading the Chargers in scoring per game at 17.5 to go along with 3.8 rebounds and also a team high, 3.2 assists. He also shined on the defensive end with 2.3 steals per game. 

Fellow Sophomore Crew Oetjen was named honorable mention after a strong season in the post, averaging 11.6 points and 6 rebounds per game. 

On the girls side, senior Grace Howell was named Offensive Player of the Year in the region after leading the entire state in 3 point FG's and averaging 10.6 points per game. Grace's 90 3's also rank 43rd in the country. She leaves as Arete's 2nd female to break the 1,000 point barrier, and Arete's all time leader in 3 pointers made in a season and career. 

Senior Sophia De La Rosa was named 2nd team all region. Sophia's on court hustle and effort, strong overall play, along with her 5.6 points per game earned her the respect of all region opponents and coaches. 

Congratulations Chargers and good luck to the boys in 2A State playoffs beginning Friday 2/9!
