The Chargers middle school track and field team competed at the GHMSL Track and Field Championships at Apollo HS in Glendale on Saturday. Anthony Soto shined for Arete, with 4 top ton finishes including bronze in the 200m, 4th in the 400m, 6th in the 100m, and 10th in long jump. He helped the boys to a 6th place team finish out of 14. Fellow 8th Grader Blade Hingson earned the Chargers lone gold medal, winning the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.87. Blade also earned silver in the Triple Jump. Sylvie Whitehead earned a podium spot with a silver medal finish in the Shot Put, with a school record throw of 30-03.75. She also placed 8th in the Discus. The majority of Arete athletes performed well above their ranking coming into the meet. Full highlights included:
