Justin “Joe” Oubre has been named the next Head Football Coach at Arete Prep. Oubre takes the reins from Coach Mike Marino, who has accepted another coaching opportunity. We wish Coach Marino the best of luck in his next coaching chapter! 

Oubre is a former American football player and coach known for his contributions to the sport as both a collegiate athlete and a high school football coach. His career has spanned competitive high school football in Tennessee, collegiate play in the Mid-South Conference, and later mentorship of young athletes through coaching.

Oubre first gained recognition as a standout football player at Goodpasture Christian School in Madison, Tennessee under Hall of Fame coach David Martin. During his time with the Cougars, he played multiple defensive positions, showcasing versatility, toughness, and physical play. During his time at Goodpasture the school enjoyed one of its most successful campaigns, reaching the Tennessee Class 2A state championship game multiple times, where the team finished as state runner-up. His performance during that period helped solidify his reputation as a disciplined and hard-working player coming out of Tennessee’s competitive high school football scene.

Following high school, Oubre continued his athletic career at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. Playing as a defender for the Bulldogs, he competed in the Mid-South Conference, bringing size, strength, and determination to the defensive front. He contributed depth and physical presence to the program while developing his football IQ and leadership skills at the collegiate level. Joe graduated with a Bachelor's in Humanities and Social Science and a Master's in Public Service Management. 

After his playing career, Oubre transitioned into coaching, applying his experience and passion for the game to developing younger athletes. He later served as an assistant football coach and defensive coordinator at Arete Prep where he worked with the Chargers football program. In this role, he helped support player development, game preparation, and team culture, mentoring student-athletes while emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and fundamentals of the game. 

Through both his playing and coaching careers, Justin "Joe" Oubre has remained closely connected to football, contributing to the sport not only through competition but also by guiding the next generation of athletes. His journey from high school standout to college player and later coach reflects a continued commitment to leadership, athletic development, and community involvement within the game.
